East Kings girls U-15 team wins silver at provincials
The U-15 East Kings Tier II Girls’ soccer team recently captured silver medals at provincial championships.
The highly competitive contest was held in North Sydney Sept. 8 and 9.
The girls had a successful overall record of 17-6-1, including regular league games, two tournaments and provincials.
Teams in the Valley league were strong, with some very close matches. Both the East Kings quarter-final match and semifinal match went to a shootout.
At provincials, in the semifinal game, East Kings defeated the Valley league champions, Upper County, to earn their spot in the gold-medal game. The score was tied at 2-2 in regulation. After two 10-minute overtimes, the game went to dot shots.
They ultimately lost to Port Hawkesbury’s Highland team, a squad that went undefeated in the tournament.
