MacK­in­non, Bernard Peter

— 86, of Hal­i­fax, passed away Sept. 15, 2018 at Vet­eran’s Memo­rial Hos­pi­tal, Hal­i­fax, NS. He was born at Is­land Point, Boular­darie, NS. He was pre­de­ceased by his wife Gla­dys (Walker) and an in­fant son. He was the last sur­viv­ing mem­ber of his im­me­di­ate fam­ily, hav­ing been pre­de­ceased by his par­ents, three broth­ers and five sis­ters. He was sur­vived by seven chil­dren, Linda and Jef­frey of Red Deer, AB and Rocco and Loretta of Ed­mon­ton, AB and Theresa of Fort St. John, BC and Wayne of Fal­mouth, NS and Joanne of Hantsport, NS, as well as many grand­chil­dren and great-grand­chil­dren. He proudly served in the Korean War 1952-1959 with the Anti-Tank Pla­toon 48th Brigade, 1st Cana­dian Nova Sco­tia High­landers. For many years, he tire­lessly vol­un­teered with the Royal Cana­dian Le­gion Poppy Cam­paign. Through­out the years, he worked for var­i­ous con­struc­tion com­pa­nies in the Hal­i­fax area. Fu­neral ser­vice was held at 1 p.m. Sat­ur­day, Sept. 22 at St. Pa­trick’s Catholic Church, New Ross with in­tern­ment to fol­low at St. Pa­trick’s Ceme­tery.
