Most democracies use pro-rep
Our present first-past-the-post voting system best serves the interests of big business and politicians who strive to hang on to their majority.
B.C. came close to adopting proportional representation in 2005 with 57.7 per cent support, and a majority in 77 out of 79 ridings. Our Citizens Assembly had designed an excellent B.C.specific voting system called single-transferable vote. Almost all progressive democracies use some form of pro-rep. It is time Canada did, too. In this referendum, I am voting Yes and for the Rural-Urban pro-rep option.
