Local sports fans are a pretty happy bunch right about now. The soccer team is poised to make another title run, the hockey team is the most exciting it has been in decades, the Raptors are playoff-bound. And now we are home to the world’s first and only transatlantic rugby team. The Toronto Wolfpack started its season winning the first three league games in the U.K., and will soon make its hometown debut at Lamport Stadium versus Oxford RLFC. Let’s go Wolfpack!

Toronto’s iconic Dominion Public Building, at 1 Front St. W., has been sold to a developer for a whopping $275.1 million. Although no plans have been announced yet, it seems almost certain that a massive development scheme will be hatched involving a condo and possibly a hotel. The Beaux-Arts building does have considerable heritage protection, so any tower will likely rise from the existing structure, which was built between 1929 and 1935 and served as the Toronto Customs House.

T.O. entrepreneur Matthew Corrin certainly has some interesting business sense. The founder of the popular health food chain Freshii recently released a public letter of sorts directed at Subway franchisees asking them to push the submarines aside and convert their outlets to Freshiis. Subway currently operates more than 40,000 locations around the world, whereas upstart Freshii boasts a cool 244. The local boy made good has moxie, we’ll give him that.
