Hammond native turns heads in St-Louis
The 23-year-old Hammond native began his minor hockey career with the Clarence Senators. He also played for the AA Eastern Ontario Cobras and the AAA Eastern Ontario Wild before spending two years with the Jr A Cumberland Grads in the CCHL. He is now a prospect for the St-Louis Blues and has survived three rounds of cuts. When asked about his impressions on his camp he replies: “It is an unbelievable experience to be part of this camp. I know I’m turning heads and I just have to keep giving it my all”.
Tansey recently played in his first NHL pre-season game, earning the praise of coach Ken Hitchcock, who singled him out at his post-game news conference.
Tansey is not in his first moments of adversity. Back in 2012 he missed a year of hockey after he suffered several serious injuries when he was assaulted in Ottawa.
“Setbacks can tell your life story, but they don’t have to dictate your future,” said Tansey, who worked hard to return to the game he loves. His decision to make the efforts to come back to hockey was obviously the right decision for his future.
Kevin Tansey is currently at an NHL prospects camp in Traverse City with the StLouis Blues. He impressed the team with his strong play and earned an invitation to the St. Louis Blues main training camp.
