Ho­ckey sea­son is back!

With the Ro­ck­land Mi­nor Ho­ckey As­so­cia­tion just fi­ni­shing off their pre-sea­son camps held at the Ca­na­dian In­ter­na­tio­nal Ho­ckey Are­na in Ro­ck­land, from Au­gust 28 to Au­gust 31 of last week, the Ro­ck­land ho­ckey sea­son is just about rea­dy to face off.

With the Ro­ck­land Mi­nor Ho­ckey As­so­cia­tion just fi­ni­shing off their pre-sea­son camps held at the Ca­na­dian In­ter­na­tio­nal Ho­ckey Are­na in Ro­ck­land, from Au­gust 28 to Au­gust 31 of last week, the Ro­ck­land ho­ckey sea­son is just about rea­dy to face off.

The as­so­cia­tion held pre-sea­son camps for goa­lies, no­vice players, as well as the atom, pee wee, ban­tam and mid­get ca­te­go­ries. The camp held prac­tices in the eve­nings and en­ded each night with 50 mi­nutes of scrim­mage. Ho­ckey is back!

The Ro­ck­land Na­tio­nals Ju­nior A team will start off their sea­son with their sea­son home ope­ner this week, on Fri­day, Sep­tem­ber 8 at 7 p.m., at the CIH Are­na in Ro­ck­land. Squa­ring off with the Na­van Grads, the Nats are fresh off their pre-sea­son camp. There will al­so be a chance to meet some of the players from the ori­gi­nal 1976 team that won the Cen­ten­nial Cup – known to­day as the RBC Cup – un­der Coach Brian Murray. Ti­ckets for Fri­day’s game are now on sale at the CIH Are­na Can­teen or can be bought at the door the night of.

The Nats are loo­king good for their up- co­ming sea­son, ha­ving done well at the Cen­tral Ca­na­da Ho­ckey League (CCHL) Show­case this past La­bour Day wee­kend. The Nats took home the win 4-2 against the Pem­broke Lum­ber Kings and al­so shu­tout the Ka­na­ta La­sers 5-0. This leaves the Ro­ck­land Na­tio­nals’ re­cord going in­to the sea­son at (4-3-0-0).

The Cla­rence Bea­vers are al­so war­ming up for their sea­son, star­ting off with ex­hi­bi­tion games this week. The team’s first ex­hi­bi­tion game will be held on Sa­tur­day, Sep­tem­ber 9, against the By­town Royals, but their first ex­hi­bi­tion game at home will be the next day, Sun­day, Sep­tem­ber 10, at 2:30 p.m., at the Cla­rence Are­na re-mat­ching the same team.

The Bea­vers’ re­gu­lar sea­son will start with an Away game on Sa­tur­day Sep­tem­ber 23 against the Mor­ris­burg Lions. Lo­cals will be able to catch the Bea­vers’ first home game on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 1 at the Cla­rence Creek Re­crea­tion Centre, ta­king on the Vank­leek Hill Cou­gars.

La sai­son du ho­ckey est de re­tour! L’As­so­cia­tion de ho­ckey mi­neur de Ro­ck­land vient de ter­mi­ner ses camps avant sai­son, du 28 au 31 août, à l’aré­na de Ro­ck­land. Les Na­tio­nals de Ro­ck­land Ju­nior A en­tre­prennent leur sai­son en af­fron­tant les Grads de Na­van cette se­maine, le ven­dre­di 8 sep­tembre, à l’aré­na de Ro­ck­land. Les Cas­tors de Cla­rence com­mencent leurs matchs d’ex­hi­bi­tion cette se­maine et leur sai­son dé­bute le 23 sep­tembre.
