Rockland Nats win big in season home opener!

The Rockland Nationals Junior A team brought down the house with a 3-1 victory over the Navan Grads during their home opener on Friday, September 8 at the CIH Arena. Some 1200 fans came out to support the Nats in what was their first home opener in 41 years.
To celebrate the occasion, players from the 1967 national-champion team, coached by former head coach Bryan Murray, were present for a pre-game ceremony and puck drop.
Connor Beatty scored two goals for the Nats, while Jean-Sébastien Boyer secured the win with a third-period goal. Nats goaltender Sean Storr stopped 20 out of 21 shots of the game. The win places the Rockland Nationals in sole possession of second place in the CCHL.
Several players from the national-champion team of 1967 were present for a pregame ceremony and puck drop. A moment of silence was taken to honor former head coach Bryan Murray who passed away in August. Rockland Councillor Jean-Marc Lalonde and CCHL Commissioner Kevin Abrams were amongst the people present during the ceremony to introduce these players.
The Nats then had a chance at a rematch against the Navan Grads on Sunday, September 10 for the Grads home opener, in which the Nationals fell 6-5 to the Grads. The Nats will take on the Kanata Lasers in an away game on Sunday, September 17 at 2:30 p.m.
