SNC partners with youth on climate
The South Nation Conservation Authority (SNC) is partnering with Ontario Nature on hosting the 2017 Youth Summit for Biodiversity and Leadership. The three-day conference is Sept. 22 to 24 at the YMCA Geneva Park in Orillia.
The SNC will sponsor one of the youth leaders eligible to attend the conference. Youth leaders, ages 14 to 19, from across the province will attend interactive workshops on sustainability, nature exploration, and climate action.
“We’re excited to work with local youth to provide them with opportunities to gain a better understanding of environment issues ...,” said Holly Nyenkamp, SNC communication and outreach official. “We invite youth to write us a letter explaining local environmental issues within their community. We would also like to know what participants hope to gain from the summit.” SNC sponsorship will cover the cost for workshop participation, accommodations, and meals during the summit. Ontario Nature staff and volunteers will provide supervision during the weekend event.
