Clarence Castors come out strong in season home opener
The Clarence Castors Junior hockey team won big during their season home opener against the Vankleek Hill Cougars on Sunday, October 1, at the “Beaver Dam” Clarence Arena, defeating the Cougars 7-4. Matthew Clement, Patrick Lemay and Matthew Wilson each scored a pair of goals for the Castors, while Jeff Brett also took home a goal and three assists.
Lemay finished the game with four points, from two goals and two assists, while Matthew Clement, Matthew Clifford, Nathan Lowry, Patrick Sonoski and Stone Stallberg all had an assist.
The Clarence Castors started their season off strong during their first away game on Saturday, September 23, against the Morrisburg Lions, at the Robert Guertin Arena in Gatineau. The Castors shut out the Lions, defeating them 3-0. Patrick Sonoski had a great game, scoring two out of the three goals for the Castors, with some help from his teammate Garrett Reed putting up the other goal. Both players came out with three points for the game, assisting each other’s goals.
This leaves the Castors in third place in the league, having won two home games and losing one away game. The Clarence Castors’ next game will be held on Saturday, October 14, in Gatineau, to take on the Morrisburg Lions.
