Cla­rence Cas­tors come out strong in sea­son home ope­ner

The Cla­rence Cas­tors Ju­nior ho­ckey team won big du­ring their sea­son home ope­ner against the Vank­leek Hill Cou­gars on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 1, at the “Bea­ver Dam” Cla­rence Are­na, de­fea­ting the Cou­gars 7-4. Mat­thew Cle­ment, Pa­trick Le­may and Mat­thew Wil­son each sco­red a pair of goals for the Cas­tors, while Jeff Brett al­so took home a goal and three as­sists.

Le­may fi­ni­shed the game with four points, from two goals and two as­sists, while Mat­thew Cle­ment, Mat­thew Clif­ford, Na­than Lo­wry, Pa­trick So­nos­ki and Stone Stall­berg all had an as­sist.

The Cla­rence Cas­tors star­ted their sea­son off strong du­ring their first away game on Sa­tur­day, Sep­tem­ber 23, against the Mor­ris­burg Lions, at the Ro­bert Guer­tin Are­na in Ga­ti­neau. The Cas­tors shut out the Lions, de­fea­ting them 3-0. Pa­trick So­nos­ki had a great game, sco­ring two out of the three goals for the Cas­tors, with some help from his team­mate Gar­rett Reed put­ting up the other goal. Both players came out with three points for the game, as­sis­ting each other’s goals.

This leaves the Cas­tors in third place in the league, ha­ving won two home games and lo­sing one away game. The Cla­rence Cas­tors’ next game will be held on Sa­tur­day, Oc­to­ber 14, in Ga­ti­neau, to take on the Mor­ris­burg Lions.
