The Nats host mi­nor ho­ckey day in Ro­ck­land

The Ro­ck­land Na­tio­nals Ju­nior A team hos­ted a Mi­nor Ho­ckey Day in Ro­ck­land for all teams of the Mi­nor Ho­ckey As­so­cia­tion, at the CIH Are­na in Ro­ck­land, this past Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 15. Par­ti­ci­pa­ting teams had a chance to win a $ 500 spon­sor­ship prize from the Ro­ck­land Nats Ju­nior A team, and the lu­cky team was the Ro­ck­land Nats No­vice B team, coa­ched by Rick La­fer­rière.

The Nats took on the Corn­wall Colts du­ring this Mi­nor Ho­ckey Day and took home an over­time vic­to­ry of 4-3. Jah­wa­ra Ren­nalls, Ma­thieu Blan­chette and Cole La­voie each brought in a re­gu­lar-time goal for the Nats. Ha­ving en­te­red the third per­iod with a 3-2 lead over the Colts, the op­po­sing team was able to tie it up pret­ty ear­ly in the per­iod. Ho­we­ver, Con­nor Beat­ty came out on fire and brought the Nats to vic­to­ry with his game-win­ning goal, eight se­conds in­to the first over­time per­iod, ear­ning his title as first star of the game. Blan­chette was na­med third star of the game, while the se­cond star went to Colts player Kon­nor MacCor­mick.

The Ro­ck­land Nats al­so had a game on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 13, in which they fell 3-2 to the Ot­ta­wa Jr. Se­na­tors. Aa­ron Bri­se­bois and Shane Spen­cer pi­cked up the Nats’ two goals, while goal­ten­der Sean Storr made 36 out of 39 saves throu­ghout the game. The Nats’ next game will be played on the road against the Kempt­ville 73’s on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 20, be­fore co­ming home to the CIH Are­na on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 22, against the Bro­ck­ville Braves, for a be­ne­fit game for breast can­cer. The Nats are as­king eve­ryone to wear pink in sup­port of wo­men bat­tling breast can­cer and the team will al­so be do­na­ting their share of the 50/50 draw to the Can­cer So­cie­ty.
