This allows students to gain valuable work experience, while also being able to earn money to pay for their educations. This program simultaneously encourages students, small businesses, non-profit and community development.

“I encourage Glengarry-Prescott-Russell not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses to apply for funding through the Canada Summer Jobs program,” said Francis Drouin, MP for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell. “Helping young Canadians develop their skills and gain valuable workplace experience will ensure a strong economy and a healthy middle class.”

Non-profit employers are eligible to receive up to 100 per cent of the provincial or territorial minimum hourly wage, while public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees are eligible for up to 50 per cent. All employers may be eligible for additional funding of up to $3000 per student with disabilities.

Since 2016, the federal government has increased its investments in the Canada Summer Jobs Program, by allocating an additional $339 million over three years.
