De­rek Roy brings bronze to Ro­ck­land

The Pyeong­chang 2018 Olym­pic Win­ter Games en­ded over the wee­kend, and a Ro­ck­land na­tive made his ho­me­town proud. De­rek Roy, who was born and rai­sed in Ro­ck­land, has just ad­ded an Olym­pic me­dal to his list of ac­com­plish­ments. The Ca­na­dian men’s Olym­pic hockey team was de­fea­ted 4-3 by Ger­ma­ny, eli­mi­na­ting any chances of playing for the gold. The Ca­na­dian men made up for it, ho­we­ver, with their 6-4 vic­to­ry over the Czech Re­pu­blic on Sa­tur­day, Fe­brua­ry 24, to win the bronze me­dal. Roy ear­ned se­ven points in six games – two goals and five as­sists –and was one of his team’s lead sco­rers.—
