City approved new contract with stage show workers
The City of Kitchener has approved a three-year deal with the employees who help set up and take down shows at city facilities. The deal with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees provides for an increase in wages of 1.5 per cent in 2017, and 1.7 per cent in 2018, and two per cent in 2019. The agreement covers stagehands hired through the union for set up and take down for 50 to 70 events each year, mainly at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. The hourly rate for stagehands was $25.44 before the new deal was reached.
