Re: A memory of terror from training school: Was youngster killed? — Feb. 12

I just read Colin Perkel’s story on the provincial training school in Cobourg. I too was in Brookside for 13 months in the late 1960s and the mental abuse and constant fear has been buried deep. My letter is not of condemnation nor revenge but more so to try to convince Rick Brown, and any others, to join in the class-action lawsuit against the province. I also have many anger issues and when I first heard of the lawsuit I was not really interested in joining. One of my inquiring nieces spoke with me and I was brought to the realization that this suit is not about money. It is about the relief I felt when I spoke up.

I fully believe this story, and I know the pain was real. So if you are a victim of these sadistic supervisors I strongly encourage you to join the suit for a little relief after so many years of torment.
