Turbos win bronze, Wildfire is fourth
The Cambridge Turbos came up short in their bid for a fourth consecutive National Ringette League championship and settled for bronze at the eight-team tournament.
The Edmonton WAM! defeated the Turbos 4-2 in the bronzemedal final and advanced to the gold-medal game, falling 5-3 to the Atlantic Attack. Sheri Adams and Jacqueline Gaudet scored for Cambridge in the bronze-medal game and defender Paige Nosal was named to the tournament’s first-team all-star unit
At the Canadian U19 championship, the Waterloo Wildfire finished fourth after falling 7-2 to the Eastman (Manitoba) Flames in the bronze-medal final.
Syd Deckert and Cayli Cole scored for Waterloo, which failed to place a player on the tournament’s all-star teams.
Team Quebec defeated Team Manitoba 3-2 to win the U19 championship.
