MICHELLE VILLETARD & MICHAEL MCPHILLIPS
JUNE 25, 2016
FROM MICHELLE: Michael proposed near a small lake in the middle of Vancouver’s Stanley Park. He pretended to take a photo, and instead had the camera filming the whole thing. I was completely shocked and had no idea it was coming— so much so he thought I was going to say no at first! Of course I said yes. We chose blush, ivory, midnight blue and gold for our wedding colours. We didn’t want the decor to feel themed, but we tried to make the space romantic, intimate and dreamy. We also added fairy-tale-inspired details for some whimsy. Huge garden roses, peonies and greenery were loosely arranged everywhere— it was exactly what I had envisioned. The arch for our ceremony and sweetheart table was stunning— it made me feel like a princess. All of the flowers were beautiful and really set the tone for the room. I painted a picture of the place where we got engaged as a welcome sign for the guests. I wasn’t sure if it was going to turn out, and I had never painted anything that big before. Michael loves it and wants to hang it in our living room as a memento.
