Wedding Bells (West) - - Real Weddings -

FROM RACHELLE: Keith proposed at The Forks in Winnipeg. We had planned on going skating but it was a warm winter’s day, so the rink was closed. We went for a stroll along Riverwalk instead, and he popped the question after we had taken some fun photos across from the St. Boniface Cathedral. Our theme was influenced by a vintage and rustic garden. Nature is so inspiring to me, so incorporating garden elements into our decor felt right. Our pastel palette included sage green, coral pink, ivory, and a bit of gold and champagne for some sparkle. We are both outdoorsy people, so we chose to hold the wedding at Evergreen Village. To tie in the rustic thread, we added birch-wood details to the guestbook table and the centrepieces. The woodsy details also served as a sentimental nod to a cabin my family used to have by Moose Lake, which I miss dearly. During the ceremony, the commissioner helped us create a “fight box” to open on our five-year anniversary. We wrote love letters to each other and chose a beverage of our choice to place in the box before nailing it shut. Should our marriage be in trouble before five years, we are to open the box, have a drink and read our love letters to each other.
