Weddingbells (Toronto) - - DETAILS REAL WEDDINGS -

FROM VANESSA: Our wedding look was vintage English garden with a boho vibe. I wanted everything to feel fresh, beautiful and effortless—nothing that seemed too forced or posed. I was nervous about the actual ceremony. I was so grateful to see everyone I love in one place. Rob walked down the aisle with his mom to “Juicy” by Notorious B.I.G. (yes, you read that correctly!); I went more traditional and walked down the aisle with my dad to “Ho Hey” by the Lumineers. Taking photos with Rob before the ceremony at my parents’ house was very special; the location means so much to me. It was also nice to get some of the portraits done early so we could enjoy the cocktail reception. When it came to details, I was definitely obsessed with my flowers. I especially loved the mix of pretty, soft colours with a few more intense hues, which my florist created instead of having one strict colour palette. Our cake was an English layer “naked” cake decorated with fresh fruit and flowers, and it tasted every bit as good as it looked. As a fashion editor, I had a pretty specific dress in mind. I loved how my bespoke gown came together, and it was a dream to wear. It was light and comfortable, and I was particularly in love with the flutter sleeves, which went down in the back to create an almost cape-like effect. I also used a piece of my mum’s wedding-day headpiece in place of a barrette on my veil. It was the perfect way to include a bit of the past.
