PAIGE DZENIS & JOSÉ LOURENÇO

Weddingbells (Toronto) - - DESTINATIONS HOT HONEYMOONS -

FROM PAIGE: Our theme was a “really excellent party” meets “chill vibes.” We wanted our wedding to be an amazing time for our guests above all else. When it came to booking the venue, it seemed like we went to every possible place in Toronto— it took forever. But when we stumbled across the Kortright Centre, it just made sense. I’d actually been there as a child, and we both loved how it was a modern building nestled in the woods. Even though we didn’t get married in the woods as originally planned because it rained, the views from inside were incredible and it felt like we were outside the whole time. One of the best moments of the evening was having our friends sing “Marry You” by Bruno Mars at the end of the ceremony as we walked up the aisle. It was a surprise for our guests and such a joy-filled way to celebrate finally being married. We’re very much into late-night karaoke— Bruno Mars is one of José’s favourite singers to take on— so this felt like an intimate, fun moment shared with everyone at the wedding. For our sweets, we incorporated a doughnut wedding cake, made by the Midnight Snack Co. We had a tower of doughnuts as our offi cial cake fl anked by two croquembouche- style doughnut-hole cones. To cap off the evening, we had a bonfire outside with s’mores as part of our late-night snacks.
