FROM ELYNN: Our wedding had a “Romance in the Woods” theme. We took a lot of inspiration from the natural greenery of the Muskoka region. Both my mom and Joe’s mom were involved in the planning process—my mom has an incredible eye for design and worked closely with Tanya List and Shealyn Angus to transform the Sherwood Inn. Joe’s mom organized a beautiful Muskoka-themed rehearsal lunch decorated with photos of Joe and I growing up on Lake Joseph—the same lake where we got married. Most of the guests came to Muskoka on Friday morning. We had the whole weekend and were fortuitous with the weather. Having everyone we love spend the weekend with us was the absolute best. Friday afternoon turned into a big beach party followed by a barbecue. Luckily we had good friends who sent us home at an appropriate time!

I loved the decor. Tanya’s flowers were perfect. We incorporated subtle hues of mauve and other natural colours to accent the greenery. “That’s How Strong My Love Is” by Otis Redding was our wedding song. We both love Otis Redding so much we named our dog after him!
