ADRIENNE FRASER & JOHNATHAN HARRY
FROM ADRIENNE: John proposed while we were on a bicycle tour in the Costa Brava
area in Spain. He had spotted this hidden staircase built into the rocks. We walked down and ended up on a stunning rocky plateau where he proposed, but not before slipping on a rock and scraping his knees! We were looking for a venue that felt like
a bit of a getaway. The barn was a great option for us; it was a gorgeous space with a raw and rustic look. We went for a really minimal colour scheme that included lots of greenery with some florals in deeper reds and purples. Because of the beauty of the natural setting, we didn’t have to do too much with the decor, we just had to highlight what was already there. We had a theme for each table instead of
table numbers. We had spray-painted gold dinosaurs, fidget spinners, and skulls (for the head table!). It created a fun way for guests to interact with one another and added an element of whimsy. We
had portraits painted of each guest. They served as traditional wedding favours because we had a small guest count. We felt it would be a wonderful way to make everyone feel really special while giving them a personalized memento. My brother created all of them using a mix of watercolour and ink. It was a great surprise and tied into the DIY vibe of our wedding.
