Sur­rey’s City Cen­tre Li­brary Can Boast in Ger­man!

City Cen­tre li­brary opened in Septem­ber 2011 and has be­come a cel­e­brated place within the com­mu­nity and be­yond, win­ning many ar­chi­tec­tural awards for its soar­ing, light­in­fused space and also win­ning the hearts of li­brary users. It of­fers an in-li­brary cof­fee shop with a good se­lec­tion of food and drinks for those who like to linger. It is lo­cated just steps from the Sur­rey Cen­tral sky­train sta­tion.

Sur­rey’s new­est li­brary has the city’s largest multi-lin­gual col­lec­tion, in­clud­ing books, DVDs and mag­a­zines in Ger­man. As well, the li­brary’s Press Dis­play data­base pro­vides ac­cess to 39 Ger­man daily news­pa­pers that users can read on­line within hours of their press time.

Books cover all gen­res, in­clud­ing gen­eral fic­tion, lit­er­ary fic­tion, ro­mance, mys­tery, his­tor­i­cal fic­tion, fan­tasy, and science fic­tion. Non-fic­tion top­ics in­clude cook­ing, health, travel, self-help, and dec­o­rat­ing. DVDs are all Ger­man-made films (not English­made films with Ger­man sub­ti­tles or voice-overs) and in­clude Ger­man award win­ners from re­cent years.
