A sand beach and grassy ar­eas sur­round this man­made lake in Fish Creek Park. Swim, read be­neath a po­plar tree, and mon­key around on the play­grounds. Aquatic safety staff are on duty and free life­jacket rentals are avail­able (page 70).

RAFT­ING

STAR GAZE

Ob­serve the planet Saturn, dis­tant gal­ax­ies, and the Per­seids Me­teor Shower at the Univer­sity of Cal­gary’s Milky Way Nights, July 23 - 25 and Au­gust 13- 15 at the Roth­ney Astro­phys­i­cal Ob­ser­va­tory (page 70). Hosted from 10 pm - 2 am, there's time to fit it in af­ter other events and ac­tiv­i­ties.

Nes­tled in Kens­ing­ton, this '50s retro style burger joint serves up de­li­cious An­gus beef and veg­e­tar­ian pat­ties (gluten-free bun op­tions avail­able). Try their Black Bean Burger, Falafel Burger, or Ve­gan Burger, pre­pared with brown rice, corn, broc­coli, car­rots, pep­pers, onions, and rolled oats (page 56).
