July 4 Canadian country singer Brett Kissel will get you dancing in your cowboy boots at the Calgary Stampede Coca-Cola Stage (page 20) with upbeat hits like “It Started with a Song” and new music—his catchy new single “Airwaves” was recently released from his new album that'll be out this fall. Kissel says guests can expect the show to be “energetic, exciting, and unpredictable—I’m bringing a special guest, and I'll perform with as much gusto as I possibly can.” When you’re not busy two-stepping, check out Kissel’s recommendations for Stampede fun:

Midway Food: Brett loved the deep fried peanut butter cups at previous Calgary Stampedes, and this year’s menu is packed with peanut butter goodies including the PB & J funnel cake and PB & J skewers (page 20).

Stampede Spirit: If you’re not at the grounds for the main event, Kissel recommends visiting Cowboys Casino (page 36) “for the Stampede atmosphere 24/7” or the “veteran country night hall” Ranchman’s (page 55). Kissel says Cowboy’s Dance Hall is also one of his favourite places to go in Calgary for “the Stampede atmosphere all year-round.” During Stampede, of course, it's a legendary nightclub spot and are is also hosting a plethora of concerts.

Unwind from Stampede: Need a break? Kissell likes to visit FARM Restaurant (page 58) when he’s in town: “they have the best wine and cheese, it’s my favourite spot [in Calgary] to eat.”
