VANCE JOY

Where Calgary - - HOT ENTERTAINMENT -

July 5 In between an international tour opening for Taylor Swift, the very talented folk-rock musician Vance Joy stops in Calgary for a Calgary Stampede Coca-Cola Stage show (page 20). Listen to "Mess is Mine" and get ready to sing along: What’s your favourite part of a live show experience? "I think of my shows as raw, I hope they give the audience a sense of my personality. I like when there's a vibe between me and the audience, when we're really engaged with each other and they sing along. It’s a cool feeling and I’m very lucky—when you write music you're stringing sentences together, and knowing that someone has connected to it—that’s a great feeling.” What can the audience expect at the show? “I’ll be doing some covers, which are good to do, because everyone can sing along. We’ll play a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘The Chain’ because it’s such a great song and it gives people something else to connect to.” Joy also hints at playing new music—perhaps his recently released single “Great Summer” and his cover of tour mate Taylor Swift’s “I Know Places."
