New work from Cathy Daley; otherworldly ceramics and prints.
MARCH 18 - MAY 6 Toronto artist Cathy Daley is known for her oil-pastel silhouettes of the female form, inspired by the world of high fashion and images of dance. Daley says her work arose from a critique of the fashion industry and its limitations in representing women. This solo exhibition features new pieces that continue to explore the subject of the female form, while evolving in style. For her new pieces Daley was influenced by Russian constructivist costuming, as well as by Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake who is known for his technology-inspired designs. “I think the work has a lot of positive energy,” Daley says. “I hope that it has a feeling of energy and power of the body.” Newzones, 730 - 11 Ave SW, 403-266-1972, newzones.com
