Healing Hot Springs

Where Canadian Rockies - - HOT SPAS -

Banff Upper Hot Springs’ (p 61) toasty mineral waters have always offered respite from frigid winter days. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, they were also renowned for medicinal benefits. Newly-created Banff National Park was given an economic boost when physician Dr. R. G. Brett promoted the springs as “the Banff cure” for rheumatism, gout, dyspepsia and diabetes. Crutches donated by cured patients lined the steps of his Grand View Villa hotel. –Afton Aikens
