With a cast of 21 talented thespians — including a singing, dancing chorus — The Adventures of a Black Girl in Search of God follows Rainey as she copes with her daughter’s death, struggles with her crumbling marriage, and looks for spiritual answers about the meaning of life. This profoundly moving play was written by Governor General’s Literary Award-winning Djanet Sears, whose ground breaking work is recognized and celebrated around the world. The play hits the National Arts Centre’s stage on October 21 and continues until November 7. (p. 34)
