James Taylor’s latest work, Before is World, is a nostalgic, heartfelt recollection of the folk-rock troubadour’s life — a life that, though marked at times by depression and addiction, was tempered by highs of unexpected professional success. His golden voice and wry, thoughtful lyrics guide the listener through the mountains and valleys of Montana and to far away, war-torn Afghanistan. e song “Angels of Fenway” reflects on the ups and downs of being a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, while at the same time serving as a touching tribute to a beloved grandmother. He performs these moving songs live at Canadian Tire Centre as part of his North American tour. (p. 37)
