A spring fever grips the nation’s capital.

e city comes out of hibernation – hungry for sunlight, fresh air, new flavours, new experiences… and old traditions. Ottawa’s world-class festival season blooms in spring, and it can satisfy any craving (p. 12).

Another cure, of course, is a sunny patio. We’ve highlighted the best places to work on your tan while sipping a cold one (p. 29) – including one of my favourite Mexican restaurants, in honour of June’s ree Amigos summit. at political event will mark President Barack Obama’s final visit to this city while in office. In tribute, our Hot Shopping section profiles “Obama cookies” in the By Ward Market Square, and “Obama scarves” at Viens Avec Moi (p. 20) – not to mention one-of-a-kind gift ideas for Mother’s and Father’s Day, and graduates (p. 21).

e city is flowering with events Here and Now (p. 8). Stop and smell the tulips – and take in the tastes and tunes – at the Tulip Festival (p.13), or enjoy the arresting beauty of Hog’s Back Park (p. 54). Visit unforgettable attractions, like the interactive Star Trek exhibit at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, or Ultimate Dinosaurs at the Museum of Nature (p. 43).
