Welcome to Gatineau Park. More than 35,000 hectares of unspoiled land — and love-at-first-sight lakes — can be explored in the nearby Gatineau Hills. Hundreds of kilometres of footpaths wind their way through the park, making it great for summer hiking. Gatineau Park beaches (O’Brien, Blanchet, Breton, Parent, Smith, and La Pêche), as well as the Leamy Lake beach in Gatineau, are officially open until the September long weekend. Canoe and kayak rentals can be found at La Pêche and Philippe lakes (shown at right). The park is also the site of the Mackenzie King Estate, country home of Canada’s eccentric former-prime minister. gatineaupark.ca
