The recipient of countless awards—including the Order of Canada—Falk has wowed audiences for more than four decades with her self-described “veneration of the ordinary,” such as piles of individually crafted ceramic fruit, a papier-mâché wedding veil weighed down by boulders, and still-life acrylic paintings. In her memoir Apples, etc. (Figure 1 Publishing), the 90-yearold reflects on the experiences that led her to become one of Canada’s most celebrated artists.
