Welcome to Whistler! As a world- class, year- round destination resort, Whistler and its resident “Whistlerites” are very proud to welcome the world to our home every day. Whistler’s residents, whether full- or part- time, as well as the large visiting worker population, are made up of every nationality and ethnicity. They also span a wide age range: from young adults travelling from abroad to work and travel; to families with young children who have chosen to live, work, play and raise their children here; to second homeowners who covet the Whistler lifestyle and plan to retire here; to long- time residents, many of whom have lived here for decades and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Perhaps they only came here on vacation but were drawn back by a love for the outdoors, or a desire to escape the fast pace and stress of city life — the reasons are many and varied. Undeniably, the spectacular mountain backdrop and access to nature is our foundation, but it is the people who live here plus those who have come before us, and the talents they have brought with them, that allow that base to prosper, making Whistler and the Sea to Sky corridor the sought- after destination that it is. They have made it a community, rich in history and diverse in culture, but fiercely proud and protective of the environment that surrounds us. While you are in Whistler, we encourage you to “ask a local,” and let us help you make the most of your visit! With our hometown knowledge and “insiders’ tips,” you can experience the very best that Whistler has to offer. This issue brings you many options, inviting you to explore the mountains, new adventures, exceptional dining, arts and culture, spas and shopping, and music and nightlife. We know, though, that you most likely won’t be able to fit it all into one visit, so pace yourself and save some experiences for when you return … we are certain you will! Thank you for sharing this issue with us. Happy exploring. Enjoy!
