50 YEARS AGO – JANUARY 5, 1967

Wiarton Echo - - PAST AND PRESENT -

- The Wiarton Propeller Club held the first official opening to the public Friday, December 30th, when Honorary President Captain Harold Miller cut the Ceremonial ribbon officially opening the club.

- John Coleman of Willowdale, grandson of W.G. Cheshire of Wiarton, when looking over some historical material in the Archives Dept. at Ottawa, came across a booklet which was a history of Wiarton up until the end of last century. It is doubtful that there are many of these booklets left in Wiarton but someone has been far-sighted enough to send a copy to the Archives at Ottawa.

- Things are busy with the Bach-Simpson Company these days. They are installing the equipment for training, at the town hall, and starting this week to train some of the people who will work at their factory. This training will go on for at least a month.
