Wiar­ton Job Fair

The Wiar­ton & District Cham­ber of Com­merce, in part­ner­ship with VPI Inc., will host the 5th an­nual Wiar­ton and district com­mu­nity job fair, March 8.

The event will be open to job seek­ers from 5 to 8 p.m. up­stairs at the Wiar­ton Com­mu­nity Cen­tre & Arena.

Last year, over 25 em­ploy­ers and sup­port or­ga­ni­za­tions and 240 job searchers at­tended the event.

The Cham­ber of Com­merce is ad­vis­ing those search­ing for em­ploy­ment to dress for a job in­ter­view and bring their re­sume.

Lo­cal em­ploy­ers will have booths where they can an­swer ques­tions and ac­cept re­sumes for full-time ca­reers, part-time em­ploy­ment or sum­mer po­si­tions.

“A Job Fair is an ex­cel­lent way to save time while look­ing for em­ploy­ment and cre­at­ing con­nec­tions in the busi­ness com­mu­nity,” said a news re­lease from the Wiar­ton & District Cham­ber of Com­merce.

VPI Inc., the Bruce County ser­vice provider of Em­ploy­ment On­tario funded pro­grams – spon­sored in part by the Gov­ern­ment of Canada – will have Bruce County sum­mer stu­dent job ap­pli­ca­tions avail­able for both em­ploy­ers and job seek­ers. VPI Inc. will ac­cept all com­plete ap­pli­ca­tions that day.

They will also be avail­able to an­swer ques­tions about em­ploy­ment fund­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties, in­clud­ing hir­ing and train­ing in­cen­tives.

The job fair will also give em­ploy­ers an op­por­tu­nity to net­work, said the Cham­ber of Com­merce news re­lease.

The event is free for mem­bers of the pub­lic to at­tend.
