Bi­son bi­son, with two sub­species, the (Bi­son bi­son bi­son) and the Wood Bi­son (Bi­son bi­son athabas­cae)


Plains Bi­son live in open fields and mead­ows, and Wood Bi­son pre­fer wood­lands with wet­lands.


Bi­son are Canada’s heav­i­est land an­i­mal! Wood Bi­son weigh around a met­ric ton, like a small car, while the Plains Bi­son males weigh in at about 750 kg. Both can be over 2 m tall.
