Downtown Windsor needs a rat patrol

Re: Dilkens, Laforet join downtown walking club: ‘This is for everyone’, by Kelly Steele, Sept. 22.

I completely agree that walking or any exercise is a great idea, and I applaud the group for their idea.

What struck me funny about the article was the statement from our mayor: “So much time and money has been spent making the waterfront beautiful and accessible.”

I was downtown on a Saturday night recently with a few friends and while waiting to pay for our parking, a rat jumped out of the garbage pail next to us.

Then, when returning to our car a few hours later, there was another couple of rats running in the lot.

We do have a beautiful downtown waterfront. Can we just get rid of all the rats so we can feel safe and enjoy it? LISA BORTOLUSSI, Windsor
