Matua Valley 2016 Sauvignon Blanc Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand

1/2 out of 5 $17.15 (LCBO #619452) Matua Valley founders Bill and Ross Spence were the first to produce Sauvignon Blanc in New Zealand in 1974. The grape variety was introduced to Marlborough and became a worldwide sensation. This white wine comes from the warmer Hawke’s Bay region, which tends to produce a richer and riper expression, with appealing texture and a refreshing mix of fruit flavours, which is pointedly different than the classic Marlborough model.

Te Awa Winery 2016 Left Field Sauvignon Blanc Nelson, New Zealand

out of 5 $18.95 (LCBO #487496) There’s a lot to like about the new Left Field release, from the striking label design to the seriously impressive rich and concentrated Sauvignon Blanc in the bottle. This checks all of the boxes for flavourful Sauvignon Blanc, with bold tropical fruit, fresh citrus and fragrant herbal notes in strong supply. It’s tailor-made for patio or poolside enjoyment.
