City to adopt pay for parking app
Soon you’ll be able to park at a city-owned spot in Windsor without having to carry around a bunch of change. The City of Windsor has announced that on Dec. 18, it will launch a pay for parking app service — allowing motorists to pay for metered street parking or use of municipal surface lots through their smartphones. Bill Kralovensky, the city’s parking compliance and enforcement supervisor, said the new method of payment won’t replace coin operations and cash transactions for parking. Those who want to pay for parking the traditional way will still be able to do so. “(The app) is another option and one that we feel is more in keeping with the times,” he said. “Everyone seems to have a smartphone these days, but not everyone has change in their pocket.” Although the service won’t be available until Dec. 18, smartphone users can download the app now: Simply visit passportca.com with your online browser and follow the instructions.
