Spit­fire will visit Wind­sor Air­port

The Cana­dian His­tor­i­cal Air­craft As­so­ci­a­tion’s Wind­sor chap­ter will be host­ing the Rose­land Spit­fire at its Wind­sor Air­port fa­cil­i­ties on July 20. The vin­tage World War II fighter, fa­mous for its role in the Bat­tle of Bri­tain, will be flown in and put on dis­play for the pub­lic from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the as­so­ci­a­tion’s hangar at 2600 Air­port Road. The plane is named af­ter pi­lot Arnold Rose­land. The 28-yearold pi­lot died in July 1944 dur­ing the aerial bat­tles over Nor­mandy af­ter fly­ing 65 mis­sions. The plane is a restora­tion of a South African Air Force wreck that took a decade to re­build and re­store to air­wor­thy sta­tus. Tick­ets to see the Spit­fire are $8 for adults, $6 for stu­dents with a valid stu­dent card and $22 for fam­i­lies. Veter­ans are free.
