A tractor-trailer driver — as well as the company she drives for — are facing charges after her transport truck left the highway. The crash happened at about 2 p.m. Thursday, according to an OPP news release. The driver, a 52-year-old Woodstock woman, was driving east on 401 when she left the road near the 33-kilometre marker in Essex County, a few kilometres west of the Highway 77 interchange, police said. The woman has been charged with careless driving; unsafe operation of a commercial motor vehicle; and failing to complete a daily inspection report accurately. The company, which the OPP did not name, has been charged with permitting the operation of an unsafe motor vehicle and failure to ensure that daily inspections are reported accurately. No other vehicles were involved.
