Ah, the av­o­cado. It’s healthy and de­li­cious but some­times oh-so-in­fu­ri­at­ing. Aside from ripeness is­sues (is it ready? Is it not?), the fruit can be a let­down when it comes to stor­age.

Chances are you stow leftovers in tin foil or plas­tic wrap, which re­sults in brown patches.

But a vi­ral Tiktok hack has you cov­ered. The user @Kmag1 orig­i­nally demon­strated a method in July that keeps patches at bay. First, use an av­o­cado that’s cut in half.

Then, put it pit-side down in a clean con­tainer filled with wa­ter — it can stay there un­til you need it, for up to 24 hours.

The web­site in­sider.com found that aside from murky wa­ter and a mushier tex­ture, the trick worked like a dream. To elim­i­nate ex­cess liq­uid, gen­tly pat the av­o­cado with a pa­per towel.
