Windsor Star - - YOU - Melissa Hank

Ah, the avocado. It’s healthy and delicious but sometimes oh-so-infuriating. Aside from ripeness issues (is it ready? Is it not?), the fruit can be a letdown when it comes to storage.

Chances are you stow leftovers in tin foil or plastic wrap, which results in brown patches.

But a viral Tiktok hack has you covered. The user @Kmag1 originally demonstrated a method in July that keeps patches at bay. First, use an avocado that’s cut in half.

Then, put it pit-side down in a clean container filled with water — it can stay there until you need it, for up to 24 hours.

The website in found that aside from murky water and a mushier texture, the trick worked like a dream. To eliminate excess liquid, gently pat the avocado with a paper towel.
