In 1954, Elvis Presley made his first and only appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. After Presley performed his rocked-up version of Bill Monroe’s Blue Moon of Kentucky, the Opry’s talent coordinator is said to have advised him to go back to driving trucks. On the same day, Sun Records released Presley’s second single, Good Rockin’ Tonight backed with I Don’t Care If the Sun Don’t Shine.
