In 1991, Bryan Adams’ (Ev­ery­thing I Do) I Do It For You be­came the long­est-run­ning No. 1 hit ever in Bri­tain. It oc­cu­pied the top spot for 12 straight weeks. The pre­vi­ous record-holder, Slim Whit­man’s Rose Marie, spent 11 weeks at No. 1 in 1955.
