Hen­rique has multi-year deal

NE­WARK, N.J. — The New Jersey Devils have re-signed cen­tre Adam Hen­rique to a mul­ti­year con­tract.

Hen­rique, 23, will en­ter his third NHL sea­son in Septem­ber and will be counted on heav­ily on a team light on of­fence. Hen­rique had 11 goals and 16 points in 42 games last sea­son with New Jersey, af­ter a mem­o­rable rookie sea­son with the Devils in 2011-12.

Hen­rique was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team that sea­son and fin­ished third in vot­ing for the Calder Tro­phy, given to the league’s top rookie. He posted 51 points that sea­son and scored the over­time win­ner in Game 6 of the Eastern Con­fer­ence Fi­nal vs. the New York Rangers, se­cur­ing New Jersey’s fifth trip to the Stan­ley Cup Fi­nal.

A na­tive of Brantford, Ont., Hen­rique made his NHL de­but April 11, 2011 vs. Bos­ton. He was the No. 82 se­lec­tion in the 2008 NHL En­try Draft.
