AMERICAN country music star Dwight Yoakam is the newest addition to Dauphin Countryfest’s 2016 lineup.

Yoakam, who has 21 albums and two Grammy awards to his name, will be headlining the Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Main Stage on Sunday, July 3.

Yoakam’s last Countryfest appearance was more than a decade ago, in 2004, and organiz- ers are excited to have him back next year.

“Dwight Yoakam performed a fantastic show the last time he was at Countryfest, and we’re looking forward to hosting him again,” said Eric Irwin, president of Dauphin’s Countryfest, in a news release.

Yoakam will be joined on Sunday night by country legend Merle Haggard, who was recently named the greatest country artist of all time by Billboard magazine. This will be Haggard’s first time playing Countryfest.

Tickets for Countryfest can be purchased online at countryfest.ca, by calling 1-800-3617300, or by visiting the Countryfest offices in Dauphin. Regular ticket prices range from $89 (single day admission) to $219 for a weekend pass. VIP options are also available.
