TORONTO — Ala­nis Moris­sette is ready to tell read­ers of the Bri­tish news­pa­per the Guardian what they oughta know.

Moris­sette is tak­ing over from ac­tress Molly Ring­wald as ad­vice colum­nist for the pa­per’s Guardian Week­end mag­a­zine.

The Ottawa-bred singer-song­writer’s first col­umn will be in its Jan. 16 edi­tion.

Moris­sette has al­ready been writ­ing and record­ing pod­casts about health and well­ness on her web­site.

She tells the Guardian Week­end she has a “com­bi­na­tion of in­tu­ition and em­pa­thy” and of­ten acted as a ther­a­pist to fam­ily mem­bers.

Her com­ments are in an in­ter­view ap­pear­ing in to­day’s mag­a­zine.

Moris­sette got her big break­through with the 1995 al­bum Jagged Lit­tle Pill, which in­cluded the. hits You Oughta Know and Ironic.
