Random acts of kindness
There are still some honest people around. Many thanks for the kindness.
Movie pass a marvellous treat
WE would like to acknowledge the fellow who gave us a free movie pass on our way from the parking lot by the Bay to the St. Vital Centre movie theatre.
We used it, saw a great movie, Joy, and much appreciated the kindness.
We neglected to wish this gentleman a happy new year and hope he reads this.
It is so refreshing and encouraging to have met someone with such thoughtfulness.
Thank you, and all the best to you in 2016, kind sir.
Stranger picked up couple’s tab
MY wife and I, and two other couples, went to spend New Year’s Eve at McPhillips Station Casino.
My wife and I arrived at 3 p.m. to stand in line at the restaurant for dinner.
We met a gentleman from St. Norbert and a couple from Winnipeg who were also waiting in line.
They tried to help me change the time on my cellphone from a 24-hour clock to 12-hour. Our other friends arrived, and we all chatted as we waited in line.
We all went in for our supper, and they sat several tables away from us. When they were leaving, they passed our table, and the gentleman from St. Norbert said, “I paid for your dinner.”
We thought he was fooling. After they left, the waitress came and said the gentleman from St. Norbert had paid the bill for all six of us.
We never had the chance to thank you. Please accept our profound thanks.
Dramatic restaurant rescue
WHILE having dinner with my mom and her friend on New Year’s Day at the Southland Restaurant, I choked on a piece of food.
I knew I was in trouble instantly and stood up looking for help.
A family walked into the restaurant, and the father could see my distress and immediately came to help me. He pounded on my back and then gave me the Heimlich manoeuvre.
The food dislodged from my throat, and thankfully, I could breathe again.
I didn’t get his name but want to send this wonderful man a huge thank you for immediately coming to my rescue.
