But then again, it’s hard not to be fas­ci­nated by how many ways this species — knee-deep in ge­netic vari­abil­ity — can be tweaked. Per­haps a day will even Thanks to the tomato’s rich gene pool — and some cre­ative plant breed­ing — there are some sur­pris­ing and rather un­con­ven­tional va­ri­eties show­ing up in the mar­ket­place this year.
