Another newer variety that’s a real breakthrough for small spaces is the Minimato. As a true dwarf tomato, it’s quite happy to grow in a 15-centimetrewide pot. But make no mistake; this is no ordinary plant. Minimato is a sweet cherry tomato with attractive foliage that’s specially pruned by growers to achieve a bonsai-like form that requires no further pruning or support. Over a two-month period, a single plant will produce about 40 tomatoes. Minimatos also ripen very early. Give them a shot — they’re the easiest tomato I’ve ever grown.
