An­other newer va­ri­ety that’s a real break­through for small spa­ces is the Min­i­mato. As a true dwarf tomato, it’s quite happy to grow in a 15-cen­time­trewide pot. But make no mis­take; this is no or­di­nary plant. Min­i­mato is a sweet cherry tomato with at­trac­tive fo­liage that’s spe­cially pruned by grow­ers to achieve a bon­sai-like form that re­quires no fur­ther prun­ing or sup­port. Over a two-month pe­riod, a sin­gle plant will pro­duce about 40 toma­toes. Min­i­matos also ripen very early. Give them a shot — they’re the eas­i­est tomato I’ve ever grown.
